OBD-II Diagnostic Network (U) Trouble Code

Possible Cause

Common causes of U0262 is include shorted, open, corroded, or damaged wiring circuits or connectors, faulty shift solenoid/s, defective engine drivability sensors (especially the engine temperature sensor), dirty or contaminated transmission fluid that restricts flow, defective valve body, a faulty PCM. PCM failure is rare.

Common Symptoms

  1. If the transmission fluid appears to be in decent shape, but the fluid level is low, add enough fluid to locate a leak and repair it
  2. This will help to determine whether or not the malfunction is intermittent. After the codes are cleared, test drive the vehicle to see if the code returns
  3. CAN is the abbreviation for "controller area network." The CAN represents a communication bus that allows multiple microcontrollers to communicate with one another without the need for a host computer
  4. Should all system circuitry and sensors check out and the transmission is in good working order, suspect a faulty PCM but keep in mind that PCM failure is rare and PCM replacement will require reprogramming.

U0262 Troubleshooting

Broken engine mountings can cause banging and graunching noises. There are two main types of mounting those centrally placed close to the bottom of the block and those higher up the block which mount on to the inner wings or chassis members. U0262 OBD2 reports a sensor fault, replacement of the sensor is unlikely to resolve the underlying problem. The fault is most likely to be caused by the systems that the sensor is monitoring, but might even be caused by the wiring to the sensor itself.

How to turn off U0262 check engine light ?

There are two ways to turn off the check engine light:

A repair technician can do so once repairs have been made.
The OBD II can automatically turn it off when it fails to detect the problem after several diagnostic cycles.
