OBD-II Diagnostic Powertrain (P) Trouble Code

Possible Cause

Common cause for P194B is the valve is controlled by the PCM (or a similar controller) using inputs from sensors and other controllers in the controller area network (CAN). The CAN represents a communication bus that allows multiple microcontrollers.

Common Symptoms

  1. Begin any transmission diagnosis with an inspection of the transmission fluid dipstick (if equipped)
  2. A suitable OBD-II scanner (or code reader) and a digital volt/ohmmeter will be most helpful in performing a successful diagnosis
  3. The PCM will read the sensor resistance and pass it
  4. Check local, state, and federal laws before removing emission related components.
