P1058 Code:

OBD-II Diagnostic Powertrain (P) Trouble Code

Possible Cause

Common causes of P1058 include four-wheel drive switch or actuator failures. Other causes include faulty sensors, solenoids, or switches, and defective wiring harnesses and connectors.

Common Symptoms

  1. These controllers control virtually every electrical function of the vehicle, with the PCM being the primary controller
  2. Repair or replace any open, shorted, damaged, or corroded items as required and retest the system to make sure that repairs were successful
  3. The PCM will read the sensor resistance and pass it
  4. If either the reference voltage or ground circuits are open, use the digital volt/ohmmeter to check for continuity (disconnect all related control modules from the circuit before checking circuit resistance or controller damage may occur) and resistance in all circuits

P1058 Troubleshooting

White smoke means that the fuel that is being injected into the combustion chamber is not being burned properly. The common causes that produce white smoke range from something as simple as low engine compression or water in the fuel to the fuel pump timing being thrown off because something is starving the fuel from getting to the pump in the manner necessary for the pump to time and work correctly. Parts or components should not be replaced with reference to only a P1058 DTC. The vehicle service manual should be consulted for more information on possible causes of the fault, along with required testing.

How to turn off P1058 check engine light ?

There are two ways to turn off the check engine light:

A repair technician can do so once repairs have been made.
The OBD II can automatically turn it off when it fails to detect the problem after several diagnostic cycles.
