OBD-II Diagnostic Powertrain (P) Trouble Code

Possible Cause

The most common cause for this P0324 type of failure is due to liquids spilled on the upshift/downshift switch. Open or shorted electrical wiring, damaged, corroded, or disconnected wiring or connectors are also a viable possibility.

Common Symptoms

  1. Insufficient fluid pressure is most often caused by a low or dirty (contaminated) transmission fluid condition
  2. Test the wiring and connectors at the fuel shutoff valve to make sure that voltage and ground readings are near battery voltage
  3. Several tools will be instrumental in successfully diagnosing this code
  4. The sensor is of the electro magnetic design and uses a reluctor ring (or a specialized set of splines) on the input shaft as reference points

An engine pulley is mounted to the engine of an automobile and drives all belts. Your car probably has a serpentine belt which is a continuous belt used to drive multiple peripheral devices. P0324 the main thing to check is to verify the operation of the VCT solenoid. You're looking for a sticking or stuck VCt solenoid valve caused by contamination. Refer to vehicle specific repair manual to perform component tests for the VCT unit.

How to turn off P0324 check engine light ?

There are two ways to turn off the check engine light:

A repair technician can do so once repairs have been made.
The OBD II can automatically turn it off when it fails to detect the problem after several diagnostic cycles.
