OBD-II Diagnostic Chassis (C) Trouble Code

Possible Cause

C1338code will be stored and a malfunction indicator lamp may be illuminated. Some vehicles will require multiple failure cycles in order for the malfunction indicator lamp to be illuminated.

Common Symptoms

  1. The first wire is a reference voltage signal (usually 5-volts), the second wire will normally be a ground wire, and the third wire will be a signal wire
  2. As the input shaft is turned (by the engine) the electro magnetic input/turbine speed sensor uses the spaces between the splines to provide voltage signal interruptions in the circuit
  3. The exhaust gas temperature sensor is used in diesel engines, gasoline burning engines, and even turbocharged engines
  4. Several tools will be instrumental in successfully diagnosing this code

C1338 Troubleshooting

Broken engine mountings can cause banging and graunching noises. There are two main types of mounting those centrally placed close to the bottom of the block and those higher up the block which mount on to the inner wings or chassis members. C1338 OBD 2 code on vehicles with electronically controlled automatic transmissions, the 3-4 shift solenoid is responsible for actuating the hydraulic circuits to activate clutches or bands that change gears inside the automatic transmission.

How to turn off C1338 check engine light ?

There are two ways to turn off the check engine light:

A repair technician can do so once repairs have been made.
The OBD II can automatically turn it off when it fails to detect the problem after several diagnostic cycles.
