Common cause for Mitsubishi Diamante P323A is the valve is controlled by the PCM (or a similar controller) using inputs from sensors and other controllers in the controller area network (CAN). The CAN represents a communication bus that allows multiple microcontrollers.
A sure sign of this is smoke or steam being emitted from underneath the hood. The ignition timing could be set incorrectly and will require adjustment.
